What does Maxim 1.0 do?  Read below for more information.  Also look at the 'Other Sceenshots' section of this page for more views of the program.

Pipe Properties

Enter the pipe diameter and pipe thickness and the following properties are calculated:

Area
Weight
Buoyancy
Inner Area
D/t ratio
Surface Area
Moment of Inertia
Section Modulus
Radius of Gyration
Polar Moment
Plastic Modulus
Circumference
You can optionally enter the pipe yield strength, length and K-factor and have the axial and bending allowable stresses calculated using API RP 2A 21st Edition equations.

Another feature of the program is the ability to calculate the minimum required pipe thickness based on a minimum required area, weight, moment of inertia, or section modulus.  How many times have you run numbers and needed a specific section modulus to resist a given moment or a specific moment of inertia in order to limit the deflection?  How about a specific area to resist a given axial load?  Well, Maxim 1.0 can back calculate the thickness by performing the following steps:
Enter pipe diameter.
Click on the box next to the property you wish the thickness to be based upon.
Enter the appropriate property.
Thickness is automatically calculated.

Beam Properties

Enter the basic beam geometry and the following properties will be calculated:

Area
Weight
Shear Area

Moment of Inertia
Section Modulus
Radius of Gyration
Polar Moment

Properties are calculated for both the major (y-y) and minor (z-z) axis.
Do you have a beam with box plates?  Just enter the optional box plate thickness and the property calculations will account for them.

Click on the 'View Shape' to confirm that the information you enter is correct.  Box plates are only shown with the thickness is set to greater than zero.

Other Features Available

The program also includes the following features:

Capacity of vessel and tank that are round and square in shape.
Weight of miscellaneous plate shapes - circular or square and ring stiffeners.
Math module that features interpolation and basic equations to solve triangles.
Metric to US or US to Metric unit conversions.
Common US to US unit conversions, also convert from decimal to architectural units.
